Tort law concerns civil wrongs, as illustrious from criminal wrongs, in the law of England and Wales. Some wrongs are the concern of the state, and so the police can enforce the law on the wrongdoers in court - in a criminal case.
British---common---tort law knows a number of different torts, each of which comes with a distinct set of procedures and remedies. In recent times, though, the tendency has been to lump newly invented varieties of tortious action into the tort of negligence.
