Jurispedia:On the interface
From Jurispedia
Jurispedia uses a wiki to enable collaborative writing. Even if you know very little about many of the topics contained on Jurispedia, you may know something about using a wiki, especially if you have used one before. Or you may have questions about how such a website can function. Here are some ideas to ponder:
- Technical issues
- Please feel free to raise any technical issues as a discussion point, but if you want a deep technical discussion about how the wiki software itself works, please realise this wiki probably isn't the place for you, as there are wikis dedicated to the software and the technology.
- Collaborative writing
- Collaborative writing can take place by a second person modifying a first person's writing. But this can be a serial exercise, as the first person does not need to do anything but publish their work in the first place. Does the original writer have any onging stake in how what has been written is changed?
- User Community
- There are many registered users of the English version of Jurispedia but far fewer are actively participating. Why is this? What makes users register when they do not need to? What makes them go away? Is an active community of users even necessary? How big does it need to be?
- Worthwile content
- A wiki relies on the contributions of many people. Does a lack of content doom a wiki to failure? How can a wiki be successful if it doesn't have any worthwhile content to start with? How does a wiki acquire content and make it worthwhile?
- Categories
- What categories should there be? How should categories be used?
