To edit a page you can:

  • click on the edit link at the top of most pages.
  • click on a red (edit) link on pages that do not exist yet.

In both cases you will arrive at the editing form.

In the editing form you can simply type the plain text of what you want to appear on the page. You do not need to learn a complicated markup language, like HTML. And if you do know HTML you should not even try to use it. All you need to know is how to type plain text.

But if you want to be a bit more fancy then you can.

Italics
To display text in italics enclose the text between two pairs of single quotes (''). For example typing ''italics'' in the edit box produces italics when the editing form is saved.
Bold text
To display bold text enclose the text between two triplets of single quotes ('''). For example typing '''bold text''' in the edit box produces bold text when the editing form is saved.
Article links
To link to another article on Jurispedia simply enclose the article name between pairs of opposing square brackets ([[ ... ]]). For example typing [[Main Page]] in the edit box produces Main Page when the editing form is saved.
Advanced article links
To give the link to another article alternative text you can follow the article name with a pipe character (|) and the alternative text. For example typing [[Main Page|Jurispedia]] in the edit box produces Jurispedia when the editing form is saved.
Interwiki links
Interwiki links are like internal links but are between wiki language versions. For example typing [[:fr:Accueil|French Main Page]] in the edit box produces French Main Page when the editing form is saved. If the first colon is omitted, as in [[fr:Accueil]] then a link to that article appears in the other languages list on the sidebar. No link appears in the page.
External links
To link to an external URL elsewhere on the internet simply type the full URL. For example typing http://en.jurispedia.org/index.php/Main_Page in the edit box produces http://en.jurispedia.org/index.php/Main_Page when the editing form is saved.
Numbered external links
To hide the URL behind a number simply enclose the URL between single opposing square brackets ([ ... ]). For example typing [http://en.jurispedia.org/index.php/Main_Page] in the edit box produces [1] when the editing form is saved.
Advanced external links
To hide the URL behind alternate text enclose the URL between single opposing square brackets ([ ... ]) with a space between the URL and the alternate text. For example typing [http://en.jurispedia.org/index.php/Main_Page Jurispedia's main page] in the edit box produces Jurispedia's main page when the editing form is saved.
Links to Wikipedia
While you can link to Wikipedia using a URL, a cleaner way is to use an interwiki link. Simply preceed the Wikipedia article name with [[Wikipedia: ... ]]. For example typing [[Wikipedia:Main Page]] in the edit box produces Wikipedia:Main Page when the editing form is saved.
